S/O Would you say something to someone using a booster inappropriately?

In the OP, I mentioned that I saw a picture of a 3.5 y/o asleep in a booster half hanging out. Would you say something?  Send them an article on the topic?  Butt out?
DS1 age 7, DD age 5 and DS2 born 4/3/12

  • Butt out unless you're asked for your opinion.  The only time I've commented is when someone asked me what the rules were for a booster.

ETA: If the kid is your nephew or otherwise closely related to you, go ahead and comment.  :)

  • I'd butt out.  Natural selection weeds out the idiots.

    * please note sarcasm.  I'm having a rotten bitter day.

  • I would maybe say " Boy that looks uncomfortable, have you tried a pt harness. but usually I say nothing.
  • I said something along the lines of "oh I didn't realize she was tall enough to ride in one of those yet".  After that I just shut my mouth b/c I don't want to cause drama when what I say isn't going to change their minds anyway.

  • Butt out.  Unfortunately that will probably just  be seen as criticizing their parenting and likely not taken to heart.

My SIL  and her husband install their carseats wrong (discovered this when they moved mine to another seat while we were on a trip and they let me know they "took care of it for me."  Thankfully I checked it and was able to reinstall before putting DD in it) and since I know they wouldn't look into it and would be upset I criticized them I instead have simply worried about their incorrect install since.  They also felt I was going completely overboard going to carseat inspection to ensure it was done correctly.  Ironically he's a Dr in a family practice and she's a pediatrician.

  • so are you good friends with her?  I just thought of when my friend told me I didn't have my latch straps switched to forward facing I wasn't offended at all.  I (hides head) didn't change it right away but I was glad she told me so I could fix it when Igot a chance.

I swear often times people in healthcare are the worst when it comes to this stuff.
