Today I found out that I have become a very rare case (most doctors in the practice have never seen this) and there is a hole in the membrane between the amniotic sacs. One baby has moved through the hole and into the other sacs - so, I am now carrying mono-mono twins. I am looking for some positive stories or advice or anything anyone can tell me. I do not want to google it, because I know that can be very risky. Any information you can tell me about your mono-mono twins, would be very helpful.
TIA
Re: mono-mono twins...
Wow. How far a long are you? Did they pick this up on a routine u/s?
I have no insight to offer, but wanted to say good luck and sending you lots of prayers. I know there have been a couple of mono-mono MoMs on this board, but can't think of any that are actively posting -- I hope one of the more 'veteran' ladies on here can point you in the right direction.
ETA: sorry, didn't see your ticker before I replied.
They think this was caused from one of the amnioreductions that I had. Three weeks ago, my babies were diagnosed with TTTS. They had to do 3 amnioreductions, and they think that is what caused it. The good news is that this fixes the TTTS; the bad news is that we have to deal with all the risks of mono-mono
monoamniotic.org is a good resource, they have forums there. i assume you will be admitted soon for continuous monitoring?
i'm sorry you're going through this. hugs!

My blog * We made the national news!
I had mono/mono twin boys....mine were mono/mono from the begining. I am no expert but I will give you my opinion based on the things I have learned from www.monoamniotic.org (totally rec this site).
I went inpatient at 24 weeks and stayed in the hospital until my c-section. I had 2 rounds of steroid shots and a round of magnesium the night before the c-section to help with the babies blood vessels. I was put on the monitors 3 times a day and I had a BPP ultrasound 2 times a week.
I suggest going to the site above...but if you have more specific questions for me, just ask!
