Mother effing Clomid. I so wasn't prepared for that. I'm not against it, honestly, and even the threat of twins at this point doesn't phase me all that much (she asked if the idea scared us and DH said "Nothing can, anymore.") But it caught me off guard a bit.
Her thought was this: We know I ovulate, but I have an elevated estrogen level (slight), and might be ovulating a bit early (something to do with egg quality) and Clomid works as an anti-estrogen - which is counter-intuitive to me, but she said it makes sense (?). Also, she feels like if we can release more than one egg, that gives us a better shot, so why not?
We talked about it in her office, and decided at this point, why not indeed. Nothing else has worked, so maybe this with the Lovenox will be the combo that makes it happen for us.
I go in on Thurs (my b-day) to check ovulation for this cycle; we'll start Lovenox then and try to get pregnant the old fashioned way. I go back two weeks after that, and if no pregnancy, we'll order the 50 mg Clomid. At this time, we know there are no sperm issues, so she is holding off on ordering an IUI. If we have three unsuccessful Clomid cycles, we can opt for the IUI at that point.
I have thick packets to go through to better understand why this is a good choice for us, given our circumstances. Luckily, this cycle we're on now is a natural one, so I have time to think it over and talk it to death with DH before making the final call.
Re: Well...okay then (back from the RE/plan mentioned)
I like that there is a PLAN!!! and a longer term one at that (with the huge hopes that you won't need any of it!). Sounds like doc is reasonable and realistic and not pushing you one way or the other. This is great.
I didn't have side effects from Clomid (I only did one month of it) - so hopefully this will be same for you if you do it!
I don't know anything about Clomid, but here's to hoping you get KU the old fashioned way this cycle!

I ovulate on my own and kinda sorta got pregnant twice, and my RE put me on Clomid this cycle too. He mentioned stuff about it making me ovulate better, I think he said--better eggs, better progesterone levels.
I hope this cycle works for you, but it's great that you have a just in case plan. Good luck!!!
I'm glad you and RE have a plan.

A plan is a plan. In my eyes, it's a lot better than the awfulness of just trying the old fashioned way indefinitely and constantly wondering what's going on, kwim?
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!
