Describe your pumping/bottle making routine. I have been pumping and putting the milk in the fridge in the bottles I pump into and then once a day I make her bottles and store them in the fridge so I can just pop them in the warmer when shes hungry, but it occurred to me that maybe I should try to give her more just pumped milk.

Re: EPers
Freshly expressed BM is good at room temp for about 8 hours or so. Here is a link on the storage guidelines.

In the beginning I would pump and leave the BM in a bottle at room temp for DS to eat. If I knew he wouldn't eat it within the timeframe, I put it into a Lansinoh storage bag and it went into the fridge. If it gets to be past 3-4 days in the fridge, I move it into our freezer downstairs.
Usually on the days I am home with DS, he gets freshly pumped milk all day. I have heard that milk in the fridge and freshly expressed milk are very similiar. The only difference you get into with milk storage is when it's frozen.
I hope my ramblings have made some sense.
DS #1 born January 2010. DS #2 due June 2014.
I pump and put into 5 oz portions in the fridge, then warm it up when he needs it. I don't have a huge supply, so I never have more than 3-4 bottles tops in the fridge. I keep them in a line at the edge of the fridge. I put freshly pumped in the back and grab from the front for feedings.
If I'm pumping and I know he's due to eat in the next little bit, I'll leave that bottle out and use it instead...but mostly he gets milk warmed from the fridge.
When I'm home, I pump every 4 hours during the day, so I make 2 bottles for DD to eat (every 2-3 hours) and the rest goes in the fridge as back up. I always give fresh milk when I can.
We found that even though the milk is ok at room temp for 8 hours, DD doesn't much like it after it's been out for 6 hours so sometimes at night if we know it will be a while we'll pre make a bottle and put it in the fridge.
