I have NO CLUE what to get my soon to be 6 year old

for her birthday....

pathetic.  I should know my DD better.  And well, i know her, but she already has everything.  We usually do one bigger gift for birthdays, and there just isn't anything she "needs" that is a bigger type gift.

She is past most toys....she loves to read and do art, so I could do books and art materials...or do you think she's old enough to 'get' that an art summer camp class is a gift?

any ideas??

I thikn an art summer camp is an awesome idea.

My niece got a Project Runway design kit for her last birthdday. It's not very big though.

I think art camp sounds like a good idea also. I believe she should be old enough to "get it." No need in buying crap she doesn't need. Unless A tells me specifically what she wants I'm awful at gift ideas. Can't believe you'll have a 6 yr old!

I know how you feel.  Kaitlyn will be 6 on the 14th, she wants a "just like you" American Girl doll.  (She already has 2 history dolls) Only problem with that is, there aren't any that look like her!

I like the camp idea.  Not sure what i'll be getting my 6yr old either.  My DD is really into girly stuff so I am sure i'll do jewelry, clothes or something.  Maybe some matching American Girl outfits.  I might take her to the Mall & let her pick out one dress, one pair of shoes & some accessories at Claires as part of her birthday.  Just her & I & then we'd go to lunch.  I did that w/ my DD #2 for her 3rd birthday & she still talks about it.

MoA, her birthday party is going to be at Sweet and Sassy.  She's  been begging for that for awhile.  Just her and her girlfriends. 

Maybe an American Girl doll..hmmmm.  She's just not a dolly girl though. 

I'm thinking the art camp would be right up her alley....off to look at art camps!

I think your ideas are great.  J's favorite gifts from her 6th b-day were an inexpensive mp3 loaded with her favorite songs and a small video camera.
