My neighbors fed and let our dog out while we were OOT. We also came home to dinner in the fridge! My fab neighb. said she knew I'd be tired and did not want me to have to cook.
I'd die before I had any of my neighbors inside my house. For me, the best kind of neighbors are the ones that leave you alone! For me, our home is our refuge, and where we spend our precious time together. Happy to have the locals stay away!
No both sets of my neighbors are loud party people. One side are gang members and drug addicts who constantly verbally abuse their children and throw their bear cans in our yard. I have complained to the manager and told her I pay to much rent to have these type of neighbors. The only reason they can afford to live in my complex is that they have 4 families living with them.
I like them because I never see them. On one side they are very old and pretty much stay inside. On the other side they live in Alaska 99% of the time.
They are low-life, pot smoking, child neglecting, loud partying trash. We live in a really quiet neighbourhood, and they ruined it the minute they moved next door. I've seen more cop cars in 6 months than I care to remember. Their kids run wild all day long and no one looks after them (I posted a while ago about how DH and I watched their 4 year old poop in the middle of the backyard because no one would let him back in the house one afternoon) And so on and so on. They suck. We bought a house across town and are moving in two weeks. I can't wait.
We only ever see one of our neighbors. Let me tell you a little bit about them, and then you can just guess how we feel about them. We live in a townhouse, by the way, so we are connected to them:
** It's a dad, his fiance, and his two sons, who are either in 1st and 2nd grade, or 2nd and 3rd grade. I can't remember.
** The dad either doesn't work, or works from home, b/c he's here all.the.time.
** He smokes on the front steps, and we have butts on our porch all the time.
** One of thier cats tries to get in our car and in our house every opportunity he gets (and has succeed once).
** Another cat lies on our patio table in the backyard every day.
** We've found his kids sitting on my car before.
** The kids like to try to outrun my car on their scooters...out in front of my car!
I don't hate them, but we don't hang out. One side is a young couple, no kids, and quiet. We say hey when we see eachother. Guy across the street is young and single, but quiet. Everyone is very to themselves around here and quiet, which it nice!
I live on a 2 lane rural road, and I'm the 5th house in a small stretch of only 7 houses. People mostly keep to themselves, which is kind of weird. We have lived in our house for 11 years, and there are a few families we've never met.
The neighbors to the south of us are great. We hang out a bit, we watch each others' houses when we're out of town, etc. I tutored their daughter with writing all the way from 11th grade until she got her Master's this year! Couldn't ask for nicer people to live by.
The ones to the north were weird at first. They just don't seem to have great social skills. They were also really overprotective of their daughter when we moved in. However, they did not have a good relationship with the people we bought the house from, so maybe they were skittish. In the last 2 years, though, since their daughter has gone to college, they've gotten friendlier. When we happen to be out in the yard at the same time, at least we'll say "hi" and chat a while.
Re: POLL Neighbors: love 'em?
That's so nice!
One neighbor I've only met once, and I don't even think they stay in the house full-time.
Our other neighbors are nice and we always chat when we see each other outside, but I don't know them terribly well.
I'm pretty sure I hate our neighbours.

Stacie, that is so nice!
