i'm not sure of the pattern. i usually love plaids but this one almost looks too old (i.e. i can picture my mom wearing a jumper in this fabric). and i'm not 100% sure of how i feel about the smocking...

I know that waist smocking like that makes me look chunky.

I don't feel the plaid either. I say look for stripes. Like skinny pinstriping, not wide annoying stripes.
