I came home to a very sick dog today.  From what I can tell he had been vomitting.  He won't eat anything, but he will drink.  If he drinks too much, he throws all of it back up.

I've given him some Pedialyte over the past couple of hours and it seems to be helping.  I don't want to give him too much because I don't want him to get sick again.

    Anything else I can do?

Can you give me some more info?

breed, age, Pomeranian, almost 7 years

    is he neutered,  No

is there any chance that he got into anything?  No, but he may have eaten his own poop.

Is he current on his vaccines? Yes

Are there any other animals in the house?  Are any of them sick? Nope

What does the vomit look like?  The dried vomit looked yellow-brownish.  But since I've been home, it's been clear after drinking water.

Also, how is he acting?  Is he painful, tired, depressed?

Extremely tired.  He's been sleeping all afternoon.  He's usually full of energy and barks at every little sounds, but nothing all day.  He's whimpering a little, but not bad.

Honestly, if he was just vomiting I would say wait and see, but if he's acting sick, I would call the vet and see what they want you to do.  Poms are so little, I wouldn't want his blood sugar to get too low or for him to get dehydrated.  How long ago did you give him the pedialyte?

He's had 3 - 1/2 cup doses.  It's been about an hour since the last one.  He's been sleeping ever since, and I hate to wake him.

FWIW, he's big for a pom - about 10 lbs.

    Thanks for the advice.

My vet is closed today, but I will take him in tomorrow if he's not feeling better.

Is there a limit on how much Pedialyte I can give him?
