I assume this is what's going on with M. He is still sleeping through the night just fine, but refuses to take naps. He will fall asleep in my arms and wake up the minute I put him down. I just don't get it. He's not particularly cranky, but he is eating a lot more as well. I guess this will pass???

It sounds kind of separation-anxiety-ish to me, though it's early for that. How do you put him down at night? Does he have his own crib in his room, or are you right there?
It seems to me like he just wants to stay close to you. Don't have any tips other than hopefully it will pass soon!

well, yeah, I am right there at night. :::sigh::: He has a crib that he has been really good about taking naps in up until a few days ago, but he does still sleep in our room at night. I just can't seem to let go of that quite yet. I know it would be for the best to let him sleep in his own room, but I just love knowing he's right there.

Your mommy and daddy love you very, very much. But growing little boys like us need our naps. In our cribs. By ourselves. I know you'll miss Mommy and Daddy terribly, but they won't leave you all by yourself. They will always be there for you to hug, kiss and snuggle.
I may only be a few months older than you, but I'm going through the same stresses about nap time. My issue is that I'm afraid I'll miss something good and fun. Nap time just gets in the way of me getting into trouble!
Your pal, Charlie

I agree with Peppernut. Sounds a bit like separation anxiety. My LO went through something similar and only lasted a week or so. Now she lets me know when she is tired and seems almost relieved when I put her in her crib. The thumb goes right in the mouth and off to sleep she goes...

LOVE the pic of you and your sweetie! Presuming it's a wedding pic?
We didn't experience a 4 month wakeful - phew! But Ellie will every 2-3 weeks have a day or two that she deems "nap optional." She will still sleep fine at night, but no matter how tired she acts, she just hollers when I try to get her to nap. So far I have found no pattern to when these days occur, I just know they are not my fav! Maybe this?

Yeah, me too. She does start off the night in her crib. Caroline has always been a crappy napper and prefers arms to beds. I can usually manage to put her in her swing for a nap after she falls asleep in my arms and she'll nap OK there. Might be worth a try.

I know you like to have M with you but I am soooo happy we put A in his own crib in his own room at about 2 months. He took really well to it and sleeps great now. I think you should give it a try. Since you waited this long he might complain at first of course, but in the long run, you'll be happy you did it. Imagine how much harder it will be when he's more aware of his surroundings. It's now or never girl! Good luck!

Re: 4 month wakeful
Awww. Yeah, we still have Margaux in our room, too. She *hates* napping away from me, and won't do it.
I know it'll be trouble trying to get her in her own room, but yeah, I just love having her there!

We went through a phase about that age too. Robby and I played fetch the binky alot
(Fortunately, that was short lived)
I love your newly added picture. What a lovely bride you were (and, of course still are).
