When did you go see a fertility specialist

Hi ladies,

Sorry we have to meet like this.  I am new to this board, but am hoping someone might have some advice.  I have two DSs, but trying for #3 is not going so well.  I have had two miscarriages this year.  I am on the older side (36) so am wondering if we should just go ahead and meeting with a fertility specialist to start some testing and talk about our options.

If you are seeing a fertility specialist, when did you decide it was time to start down that path?

  • I had three miscarriages in 2009 and my OB referred me to an RE.  I would definitely talk to your OB about it.  GL!  And, welcome.  it sucks to have to be here, but you can't find a better group of women!

  • Since I had primary IF I went in around 8 months ttc#2 with an OB.  I finally switched to an RE after 17 months and got pregnant my first cycle on injectibles.

I'll turn 35 this year.  I think you are well within reason to pursue a specialist. GL!!!

  • I went around 9 months of TTC.  I wish I had gone earlier, to be honest, considering everything we've found.

We had been trying for about 15 months for #2.  I went to my OBGYN and she had put me on clomid for two months and wasn't working.  I asked her about the next step and she referred me to an RE.  I went directly from just clomid to clomid/IUI for two more cycles and then, injectables and IUI which worked for us.   GL!

I went to my OB after trying for 10 months (I told them I had been trying a year).  I knew something wasn't right since I got PG with DS right away.  I wish we started trying when DS was a year old and not waiting til he was almost 18 months, so I could have seen a RE sooner.

  • I went when we were trying for almost 9 months. I was tracking my temps for a year and a half and it was obvious that my ovulation was screwy. I think if I were you I'd probably make an appointment. Good luck!
