bumgenius diapers

anyone have any experience with these?  Right now we are using disposables but I have a few bum genius cotton diapers.  I just am not sure if the insert goes under the flap or on top of it.  It might sound like a dumb question but if it goes under the flap won't I have to change the outer covering with every diaper change?  I feel like I should just change the liner unless the outside gets soiled, no?

Re: bumgenius diapers

  • The liner goes inside the pocket. You don't want the microfleece to touch baby's skin. Then the whole thing gets changed at diaper change.

  • it's called a pocket diaper.  You put the liner inside the flap.  Yes you change the whole diaper.  The flap is made of a micro-dry material that wicks pee away from the baby's skin so they aren't against the wet.  The liner holds the pee.

  • Try something like the gDiaper if you are looking for something where you don't have to change the outside with each change.  Or do prefolds with diaper covers.  You don't wash the cover in those cases unless it gets yucky or just every once in a while cuzz it's good practice.

The bG diapers are pocket diapers, the insert goes inside the pocket and you change the whole diaper like you would a disposable.  If you want one where you just change the insert, here are a few suggestions:

    GroVia

    Flip

  • I personally love the BG diapers.  It can be a pain to change the whole thing, but they fit so well it is worth it.  I have used gDiapers, and they leaked more often than I liked.

If you want  something more like a disposable, then try Grow baby, or the flip diaper.
