Every time I see DS walking around in these Stride Rites that I got at a consignment sale in his size(6W, no less) for $6 I smile big smiles of joy, lols.
I feel your pain. Thank goodness I've gotten lucky at consignment sales and that we have a great friend whose son is one size bigger than DS. We get his cast-offs, and she buys the best.
I have had the best luck at those kid's consignment sales that are the once or twice a year type sale, rather than at consignment stores. It's totally hit or miss, but in this size range (5-7 toddler) I'm finding there isn't much wear on them(esp on the dressy shoes like the sandals I found). I know that will change as he gets older, and we won't get so lucky, but hey, I'm happy for what money I can save now!!!
