Convertible car seat questions.....stupid, I know

So DS is almost at the weight limit of his infant seat. He is sitting up on his own, but just barely.

So what do you do when you go grocery shopping and going out to eat? There is no way he could sit in the cart or restaurant high chair on his own yet.

Also, do I need two convertible seats? DH drops off at daycare and I pick up. So I'm guessing we will need two since they dont interchange in a base like the infant seats?

I know, stupid questions. I feel lost with this.

  • We had to switch T to a convertible seat early as well. There was about a month period where it was a pain when we took him to the store or out to eat. That month we used mainly a carrier and just wore him. It was a pain but then we were able to put him in the cart and it was a lot easier. As far as restuarants go we got the Fisher Price travel booster seat and he was able to sit in that earlier than the regular high chairs in restaurants. It is roughly $20 or $25 and most Targets/Walmarts have them. As far as two seats, yes we went with two. It was far easier than trying to take the seat in and out of our vehicles. We were able to get two Britax seats on sale pretty reasonable. Then we bought an Evenflo for my MIL since she watches T during the week. If you use one car over the other you may want to do something like that.

  • I assume DH cannot bring you the seat after he drops LO off?? I am getting one that DH and I will share. I actually will be leaving it with her sitter, will the day care allow you to do that??. You can baby wear when you go out. I have also seen a lot of people take the bumbo with them to restaurants ect.

  • Are you sure he couldn't sit by himself in the cart?  We tried it for the first time yesterday and as you can see, she loved it.  I felt that she was secure and safe too.  But she sits unassisted now, maybe that helps?

  • Bringing the Bumbo to a restaurant is a good idea- I too have seen people do this. As for the grocery cart- get one of those covers for the cart they have ones that have pillows and stuff that may help your LO sit up better and have a little more support.

As for the 2 convertible car seats- I think you have to go with 2- you can always get a less expensive one as your second one.  They can be a pain to take out and leave at the daycare- also I don't think it's good to keep uninstalling them and reinstalling them.

    OMG, so cute!!!!!

Actually seeing this picture I think he could sit by himself in the cart. I wasn't thinking of the straps they have in the cart.
