My DS is 5 months old and I plan to take him swimming this weekend. If you plan to or have taken your LO swimming what will/did you use in the pool? What kind of intertube? Do you use sunscreen or are you waiting till 6 months? Also I only saw that huggies makes swim diapers but the small is 16lbs +, my DS only weighs 13lbs. Any suggestions?
Sorry for all the ques.! TIA!
Re: Swim time ??
We took DD to the pool last weekend. She hated it, so we left.
But...she has the little swimmers. I have seen swimsuits that have a diaper type liner. She also has a cheap blow up tube with a SPF canopy that we got from Walmart and the baby Neutragena sunblock.
We're gonna try again this weekend. Good Luck!
I take DD to swimming "lessons" (parent and Tot and have weekly since she was 3 months old. We use the pampers swim diapers or a re-usable one and both of them fit fine even though she was not at the smallest weight (her bathing suit made it seem tighter - although we have never had a poop to test it out ::knocks on wood::). I hold her in the pool and we "practice" being on our tummy, back, jumping off the wall and dunking. She loves the lessons where lifejackets are brought out to use and she kicks around the pool without me holding on to her (beside her but not holding on).
Have Fun.
My DS loves the pool; we've been to two different ones now about a total of 5 times. I just held him in the pool (he's almost 4 months old). I held him with his back to me, his chest to me, sat him on the ledge and splashed a bit, etc., went in circles....(didn't use a tube or toys). Yes I use sunblock- one that is for babies and high spectrum SPF. I used zinc oxide sunblock on his face. He wears a hat every time and either this new onesie from Toys R Us that has SPF in it or a onesie over a diaper or a little swimmer (he can wear them now- he's almost 17lbs.). You can always just use a diaper and put a bathing suit over it or a onesie- my DS normally gives me cues that he's working up a poop so I haven't had any issues wondering if he is and I DON'T worry about him peeing.
Enjoy!
