Commercial repellents are often harsh for kid's skin. But is there another option? THERE IS!!!
Fabric softener dryer sheets are a good low-cost alternative and it's easy to use. Simply wipe all of the child's exposed skin with a dry dryer sheet, like you'd use a washcloth. Then tuck a corner of the dryer sheet in the back of the diaper or pants of the child, leaving a long "tail" hanging out. This keeps kids mosquito-bite free.

Re: Brilliant way to repel mosquitos!!!
I was thinking the same thing. I actually stopped using fabric softener and dryer sheets for this reason.
I routinely get devoured by mosquitoes, head to toe, so I'll totally try this. DD and DH never have a bite on them.
We use this also!! Its heaven and smells GREAT!! My mom put this on us when we were kids too LOL
Dryer sheets are interesting though...maybe for infants though, M would never keep that in her pants lol
