Babies: 3 - 6 Months

First time nap in her crib today did not work out well

I know DD needs to transition to her crib, so today was going to be the first nap in it.  I nursed her and put her down sleepy, but she hated it and woke up out of her sleepy state.  So I calmed her and she layed in the crib for a while cooing and talking to herself.  After 30 mins, she got frustrated and was crying (her hunger cry).  So I nursed her again and rocked with her till she was sleepy again, but further along than before.  She slept all of about 10 minutes and then freaked out again.

And she's been up ever since!  So only that tiny 10 min cat nap between 10am and 4pm.  She's in her swing fighting to stay awake.

Guess I shouldn't expect too much the first day, but I hope she gets used to the crib quickly.  (at least for naps...not sure I'm ready for over night yet)

  • We need to start crib sleeping as well. I keep putting it off because we've tried before and it was a disaster...I might try to start this weekend when Daddy is home to help. GL to you!

  • We just did it (she's been sleeping at night there for a while now).  It took about 3 days, and NO swing (it was tough, but I did it).  She still only naps for about 45 min, but it was the same in the swing.

GL!  It's funny, my older one was so easy to transition to the crib at 4 months...I think that's why I find this one so tough!

And yes...having an extra person to help is wonderful!

  • i just did this as well. but i started letting DD play in the crib a couple times a day,a couple days b4 we started napping in the crib. I let her watch and listen to her mobile, that way she is familar with her crib and enjoys being there. I also turn her seahorse on,lay it next to her,do her half swaddle and paci and she's out.GL
  • I put my baby in his crib the moment we got home from the hospital, so he loves it and sleeps all night with no issues.  12 hours.   But, nap time in the crib is a different story.  Today has been the most success.
