I want to start deswaddling my DS this weekend. He currently uses the Miracle Blanket for naps and nighttime, but struggles against it and has gotten out of it the past couple of nights. I think he is getting too big for it. I plan to try the deswaddling cold turkey - but my DS tends to claw/scratch at his forehead area when he is tired. I don't know what to do. He will scratch his head up (he has scratched it to the point of drawing blood). I keep his nails trimmed, but it still doesn't help. I guess I could put socks on his hands, but am afraid that it would be a choking hazard if he got his socks off (I think he is teething right now and is constantly chewing on his hands as well). I keep his head well moisturized just in case he is scratching it because it is itchy - but he still does it, so I am thinking it is just a "I'm sleepy" cue.
Anybody else's LO do this? Any suggestions on what I can do to stop the scratching?
Re: Clawing at his forehead. Don't know what to do...
Yep! In fact, every picture of her from 1 month - 4 months old, she has scabs or scratch marks on her face. We found out that she was mainly doing it because of her dairy allergy. Once I changed my diet, she rarely does it anymore. If she does do it, I assume she is tired, or her dog allergy is making her itch.
My suggestion would be to use footed sleepers with built-in mittens. GL!
That is interesting. DD scratches her head too and has MPA. I have completely cut out dairy, but she is still reacting to something so I am in the process of cutting out soy and will do nuts and gluten after that. How did you find out she has a dog allergy? Did you see an allergist?
Yep. We took her to the allergist to test for dairy allergy and found out she has a dog and peanut allergy too. Poor thing!
