Why have I never heard of this? LO eats between 30-36oz a day. I guess she shouldn't be eating more than 32? We're trying the solids thing, but she doesn't seem to be ready for the spoon. My pedi never even mentioned anything about formula toxicity. Should I be concerned?
Re: s/o formula toxicity...
Where did you hear about this?
My DS eats between 32-32oz a day and he's younger that your DD. But he is a chunky monkey, so that might make a difference.
Our pedi knows he eats that much and once I proved to her that he acted wanted it (i.e. wasn't overeating because of wanting to suck), she was okay with it. And that was at 2 months.
I've never heard of it before either.
I've seen it brought up numerous times on this board and I'm really curious as to where they get this information from.
I heard about it from my pedi.
Basically, because formula is enriched with iron and different minerals and vitamins, they can OD on these vitamins and minerals. This can make them ill.
Typically, my pedi says 32 oz of formula is the cut off.
What were their suggestions when your baby starts wanting/needing more food than that? Was it the assumption that by the time they hit 32oz they'd be on solids to help?
I've been given the green light to start cereal at 4 months, but we're only at three and moving slowly up the ounces chain.
