My cousin is giving us her ARCS but we won't have it for a couple more weeks. I do not feel comfortable sleeping with a newborn in my bed because I'm a deep sleeper who moves a lot during sleep. I'm thinking about getting a snuggle nest since the baby will most likely come before the ARCS and I want him close by, esp in the beginning. Also, we'll be staying in a hotel for a night when he's approx 3 weeks old. So, is this a worthwhile investment? Are they safe? What are your experiences? Thanks!

We used one for the first 2 months or so. It was nice to have peace of mind that I couldn't roll over on her. We also had the one with the nightlight and the heartbeat sounds and both of those were nice to have as well.
we have the same one as pp with light and sounds and we love it. DD has slept in it (or on me) since she came home from the hospital with no problems. we have a king sized bed though. I don't think DH and I would enjoy it as much if we had a smaller bed.
and i put it in her crib for daytime naps to help her get used to her room/crib

we used it for 6 weeks. DS was a chubber and soon was sliding down and out of the bottom.
the nightlite was helpful for nighttime nursing. b/c i had a c/s, moving was uncomfortable, and the better i could position him the first time, the less moving i had to do. the nightlite is removable, so DH used it to go get DS after we transitioned him to his crib.
the sleep positioners were also removable and we used them in his crib and on our bed w/o the nest.
FWIW, we had a queen sized bed at the time. we put the nest between our pillows and had no problems at all with spacing.

Excellent. We have a queen and I was a little worried about space. Thanks everyone for the comments.

it is something they should get used to right away. we introduced one to dd at 1 month old...even then she wriggled out of it. she's always wanted to have direct contact with me or dh while sleeping. that being said, we bought it from BRU and they took it back after we tried it for 3 nights...just saying it doesn't hurt to try.
I love mine! I bought it when LO was about 3 weeks old (she's 7 weeks now) and we use it every night. We have a queen bed and spacing works great for us.
Also - I think it would work great for traveling. I am taking DD to the beach in September and am thinking it will work well then
Our SN was a lifesaver. DS outgrew it probably around four months, at which point I was comfortable enough to have him directly on our bed with us. It will definitely be perfect for taking to a hotel... takes up much less space than a PNP!

We used a Snuggle Nest for the first 3 or 4 months. DH was nervous about bed sharing so we went with that. We really liked it. We wanted to use it longer, but DS outgrew it.
My son hated it. He wanted to be physically touching me when he was brand new, and this (to him at least) felt just as far away as being in a bassinet. So, we stripped the bed, slept with one pillow each, and dropped the mattress to the floor.
By the time he was old enough to like sleeping in it, he was equally comfy in the arm's rest or his crib. For us, it was a total waste of money.

Same here. I actually returned it after two nights of trying because he HATED the thing.
I borrowed one from somebody and used it for about a month. Our mattress isn't super firm, so i had the problem where DD would roll/slide to one side and be smashed up against the side of the snuggle nest. I actually felt safer with her on her back in the bed with no pillows around her (and she certainly slept better that way.) After about 3 months, we were able to transition her to the arms reach co-sleeper.
