Ultrasound on scrotum?

Hi Everyone, I don't post much on this board but I was wondering if anyone has had to have an ultrasound done on their DS's scrotum before?  We just got back from our 4 month appointment and the doctor felt some extra tissue around one of my DS's testicles and ordered that we get an ultrasound.  He said it might be extra tissue that dropped with the testes when he was developing.  The word ultrasound on an infant just makes me cringe and is freaking me out more and more. Has anyone had to have this done and what was it for?

Thanks.

Re: Ultrasound on scrotum?

  • My son had to have an ultrasound on his scrotum shortly after his 2 month doctor visit. He has a hydrocele, which is fluid around the testicle, on the right side. I was very worried about the ultrasound but there was absolutely no preparation to be done on our part. We showed up for the ultrasound appointment and were taken into the room. The ultrasound tech had us undress LO and she put a gown over him to keep him warm (and to catch any pee surprises :) She asked DH and I to hold onto his arms and legs so they didn't get in the way and talk to him. The whole time she was performing the procedure, LO just laid there and looked around. There was no pain or crying involved.
