Poor DH!

Last night DH was telling me that I'm his favorite wife (he was previously married.)  Mid-conversation, we got a phone call from someone at our church, who needed information from me.  He said, "Hang on, let me give the phone to Julia."

I'm not Julia.  Ex-wife is Julia.

He's NEVER done that before, and it really didn't upset me - it was obviously because we were talking about his previous marriage when the phone rang.  But he feels TERRIBLE.  I keep telling him that I'm not upset, but he just feels awful.  The plus side, he's being super-husband because of the guilt - I woke up to clean dishes and a clean kitchen this morning.

The extra-funny part?  The call was about the flowers we donated to the church in honor of our first wedding anniversary.

My DH is also divorced and he did this to me once when we were first dating. Let's just say he learned his lesson.

Awe poor DH! I can totally feel his pain though. I have an ex-husband with the same first letter name as MH. I have never called MH the wrong name, but on many occasions I have caught myself almost saying it! YIKES! I am glad you were a good sport though, and enjoy the guilt cleaning from him!

Good for u on not being upset. I would hate literally punched him in the gut!! He actually did call me his ex gf's name once when we where dating but our names are pretty similar..mine just has an extra "e" in it so it made more sence..

I would have been VERY annoyed...but accidents happen! I know things come out of my mouth without thinking all the time, but YAY for a clean kitchen!

You are sweet for not being angry.  I frequently call people (including MH) by the wrong name.  I think my brain has a crossed connection somewhere.

You are a great wife for being so understanding of the situation and not holding it against him. It sounds like it was simply due to the discussion you were having, but that would still have to sting.

Yay for guilt cleaning, though!

I have to agree with you, my DH has been married before but things like that don't really bother me. (He got our birthdays confused once..)
