Any EBFers on Weight Watchers?

I swore I wouldn't go on Weight Watchers until I wasn't nursing anymore. That was BEFORE I not only stopped losing weight after having my LO, but started gaining weight.

I gained 38lbs. during my pregnancy, lost 16, then gained 6 back. Not cool! So I've started Weight Watchers (and indicated that I'm a nursing Mom and exclusively nursing).  So far, I've lost 2 lbs. in 2 weeks. I think this is going to be a slow process!

Anybody else doing it? Any luck with it?

I just started on Sunday and already I feel healthier. I'm still eating a lot (thank god for the 30 points!) but what I'm eating is healthier and I've cut out almost all sweets.I eat 6 small meals a day and try to get lots of lean proteins and veggies in each meal. Like you, I gained 40 lbs, lost 20, then gained 7 back.

    Good luck!

  • I tried it but my supply appeared to tank!  I mean it went to about 2/3 of what I was pumping out.  I was only on it a week and made sure I ate all the points sometimes even a little more.  I decided that my weight loss needs to occur after I EBF or at least until she has started eating solids regularly.  I'm gaining weight - I've gained 5 since going back to work.  But at the end of the day, it is what it is.  I had so many people tell me about how when they EBF they could eat anything they wanted and as much as the wanted and the weight just melted off.  Not me by ANY means.  I'm starting to be more aware of what I'm eating and trying to overall make "better" choices (for the most part) but as far as starting something for weight loss, that won't happen for a while longer.
  • Hubs and I are on a hard core diet for 30 days.  I have gone from a size 18-20 down to 14-16 in 14 days.  My supply is doing great!  I think it's because the diet we're doing is not a fat restrictive diet and bm is FULL of fats.  We're doing Atkins which I already know folks think is crazy but whatever, it works really well for us.

  • I started WW when I was still nursing.  It went well for me at first, then I struggled with being too hungry.  The key is to eat what they call "filling" foods.  I took the approach of elliminating processed foods and focusing on "real" food and making sure to eat more protein.  I lost the 50 lbs I gained while pregnant, plus another 10lbs.  Here is a sample menu:

    Breakfast: banana, skinny latte

    Snack: 1 oz almonds, grapes

Lunch: 4 oz baked turkey breast, lettuce salad w/ cucumers, small amount of dressing, strawberries

    Snack: 1 oz cashews, apple

Dinner: 4oz steak (trimmed), grilled pineapple, baked potato

Good luck and keep going!  Remember it is better to lose the weight slow because the chances of it staying off and not just being water weight are better.

  • I started WW at 5 weeks pp. I lost about 15 lbs in 4 weeks or so--which was definitely too fast (and I did use all 31 points, every day). I didn't notice a drop in supply because I don't pump and DD always seem satisfied. Overall, it works great! I found the first 3 days or so to be the toughest because I really like to eat! :)

  • I really want to but I'm a vegetarian (no meat, no seafood) and I don't eat eggs and have an allergy to tomatoes and oranges.  So that being said, last time I went on WW I lost weight but I was a really b!tch because I was starving! =(
