Bad MOTY award here.

Last night, dh set up the kiddie pool for P. Well, this morning when he got up, he wanted to go in it, but had to wait until at least early afternoon (since the water was soo cold). When it came time for him to go in it, I did not even think of sunscreen and never put any on him. He got up from his nap and he is burnt on his arms/upper back and neck. It's not painfully red, but red enough. He did go back in the pool and I did put sunblock on him then (but a little too late obviously). Poor guy. I did put Aloe on him tonight before bed.

  • Put a shirt on him if it is still red tomorrow.  Dark colors are better, if you don't have a swim shirt.  So much easier than sunscreen.  I am so glad my yard only gets morning sun.  Otherwise my kids would look like they had been microwaved as much as they play out there.
  • It's hard to remember the sunscreen this early in the year (especially for us in the Midwest, where any day it might snow again!)  No flames here - I'm sure he'll be ok.

Ya, we have absolutely no shade. I did go buy a new umbrella for our table on the deck (we have the kiddie pool on the deck too), so it can shade at least half of the pool.

I will definitely be putting a shirt on him tomorrow (since knowing him, he will want to play in the pool again then)...:-)
