screw the naps i am done stressing about it

lately DD will NOT take a nap......she screams and screams, yesterday i rocked her to sleep (took me 20 minutes) and she slept for all of 28 minutes.

then when i go to BF her she takes a snooze so it turns into an hour and a half eat/sleep fest and if i try to put her down she wakes up and screams. 

DH calls and texts during the day and he just asked if DD has napped.....and of course her nap was on my lap, and for the 45th time DH tries to give me advice on what i should do.....so i just told him, "screw the naps, i am done stressing about it, i don't know any 5 year olds that will only nap on their mother's lap so i am sure it is a phase and we will get through it."  his response....."well, ok then".  ::laughing:: i don't think he will be trying to give me advice on this subject anymore......

Can I join your club???  I think I may write your comment down, and refer to it when I get stressed over naps, because you are so right

My DD thinks its fun to act like she's falling asleep and has even got the eyes rolling back in her head trick down pat....and then 30 seconds after I get downstairs and sit down she starts crying again.   Rather, rinse, repeat.

i know right??  i keep stressing over the silly stuff--DD is happy and STTN so until i have something big to worry about i am just going to roll with it!

I know...DD is STTN too, so I really shouldn't complain!! (but it doesn't stop me from wishing!!)

With my DD (now three), I felt liberated when I decided I wasn't even going to try anymore.  She catnapped here and there, never seemed to follow a set schedule (or at least it was always changing), and I got so burned out trying to make it work the way I wanted.  I was tired a lot, because she never gave me much of a break, but at least I was not so frustrated all the time.  I just took each nap as it came (or didn't).  She never did turn into a great napper, and to this day I don't know if it was because I didn't force a schedule and do more sleep training and CIO (my attempts usually failed, so I gave up), or if she was just always destined to be a crappy sleeper.  She's a great nighttime sleeper, though, and honestly that's what's most important, right?  I mean, kids only nap for a few years, but they have to sleep at night their whole lives!

thanks for this!!  i have been trying to force a schedule and it just isn't working!  so now i am just going to relax and rollwith it!
