How can I get a quicker "let down"?

I can only feel myself "let down" when I pump and not when DD is BFing.  Sometimes, it seems like she really fights for it before I can hear her swallowing.  Other time, it seems that I "let down" fairly quickly.  Is there anything I can do to make this more consistent?

  • For me, let down is quicker and easier when I am as relaxed as possible.  The more tense I am and the more worked up I get that I haven't let down yet, the harder it is.  I try and relax my whole body, take deep breaths, and imagine the feeling of let down.  Usually the actual let down is not far behind!

    Warm compress (heating pad, hot towel/rag), or even a hot shower right beforehand
