Truly, 100% not trying to start a "thing"

But who is not planning on rear facing until 2? I don't plan on it and am totally respectful if you choose not to or to rf your child until two. I was just wondering the stats. I will not respond to criticism or support. That is not the purpose of this post.

  • You should make a clicky.

We will be RF 'till college, haha.

  • I haven't looked into other car seats yet so I haven't done the research but if it is safer then I will leave him rear facing.
  • I rear-faced DD until her first birthday.  She met the age and weight recommendations, so we did it.  She's pretty little and I can't imagine her squeezing in rear facing for a whole other year.  I'll do the same with DS.  (Though at the rate he's going, he'd reasch the weight by like tomorrow.)
  • Never thought about going that long and in all honesty, I don't know if my kiddos long legs will let him once he is one and 20+pounds...

    Knees are made to bend.

  • I thought rear facing had to do with weight, not age?

  • We will rear face until DS is no longer comfortable.  I figure by the time he is uncomfortable, he will be able to express that he is uncomfortable with words and/or gestures.

Lots of kids sit indian style/legs crossed when rear facing.  Honestly, its not that big of a deal.  Don't turn them just because you think their legs are too long.  They will tell you if there is a problem.  Kids are good like that.

  • My understanding is that it's something to do with how their spines are fused together by age two - but what do I know?  DS is still RF and he's enormous (90th percentile for height).  The Pedi said he's fine with us turning him around now but I want to get my money out of this expensive Britax with its impressive weight limits for RF so we'll probably wait until he's two.  Some fireman once told me, "Better to have broken legs than a broken spine."  That was good enough for me.
  • Hehe! I know. I always joke that lo will be wearing a helmut and living in a bubble until he is 30! I never want anything bad to happen to him. He has such a sweet soul, always smiling, laughing, making people smile.

Both, if LO reaches 20 lbs before 1 year, they should still be rf at least till 1 year.

    Effing crazy people.

    Sorry it's not a clicky, I don't know how!

  • I haven't thought about it. I'll probably go until 2 though.
  • We'll rear-face until age 2 most likely. He's not two yet, so I can't say for sure. But we're planning on age two!

  • I amazes me how quickly things change.  I remember my grandmother being all upset when my mom put my sister (she's 22 now) in a (front facing) car seat because "what if she spit up?!  Eleventy!  You're the meanest mom ever!".  And my MIL brough my BIL home wrapped in a blanket and put on the floorboards at her feet and held most of her other kids in her arms in the front seat.

Now kids are in carseats until they're 10.

  • I will rear face until he reaches the rear facing weight limit on our convertible seat (35 lbs).  I assume this will be sometime between 1 and 2 years old.
