NBR- how do you store your jewelry?

I've got this huge item on my to-do list that has just been getting bumped from week to week and I think I'll finally tackle it this week (maybe).

I have to clean out under my bathroom cabinets and organize all my jewelry.  As of now, I have one of these container store make-up organizers that they no longer sell.  I use it to keep makeup and jewelry and it's just not cutting it.  I don't want a jewelry box, but I need a better system.  I keep fine jewelry (real diamonds/etc) in their original boxes usually, and then my regular jewelry is all in this organizer - one slot for bracelets, one for earrings, one for necklaces.And then there's always an occasional blush/pressed powder accident that gets it all yucky.

Any tips or advice/suggestions?  I prefer to keep everything in my one drawer - and it's not tall enough for any stacking contraptions.  I've seen that some people use silverware trays for this - so that might be an option.

I bought several of these type of hanging organizers for my closet, and so far, it's worked well.  I have the jewelry organized by color so I can find what I'm looking for easily.
