Funny baby wearing story

So I was clothes shopping a few towns over from home with DD yesterday and she was in her pouch sling. One of the sales ladies sort of peeked in, and I showed her the baby. She was shocked that I was wearing my baby! She was expecting to see a dog. Apparently it is much more common in Boca Raton for people to carry their dogs around in slings than their babies. She kind of implied that it was "weird" to carry your baby like that...but apparently not weird to bring your dog into a store with you in a sling....Okkkayyyyy

  • Oh my goodness, I would totally crack up if I saw someone "wearing" their dog. That's too funny! I went jogging with DS the other day with him in his jogging stroller - and I was shocked at how many other joggers I saw out there with their DOGS in JOGGING STROLLERS!!!
  • I was wearing DD at an arts festival this weekend and I walked past a lady wearing her dog!  It was the weirdest thing!  She gave me this knowing look and it was really hard for me not to give her a strange look back, haha.  She was even patting the dog like I pat DD's bum when she's in a sling.

Too funny!  I see people wearing their dogs all the time here, but I thought it was just a Seattle thing.

  • I see lots of dog-carrying and dog-stroller pushing women in Boca and Palm Beach, but this is the first I've heard of "dogwearing".   Shall we refer to it as DW!?!  My DH has severe allergies, so,  I feel it's a bit inconsiderate to bring your pooch in a mall or restaurant (unless it's a service dog). Plus, I'm sure the doggy would rather be running around free:)  It sounds like she hasn't been out in public much because there are a couple bw groups in that area and it's not that unusual to see a bw mama.
  • I have had SEVERAL people say to me that they wished they "had something like that for their ______________"  (insert cat OR dog in the blank).

     That was in my Pikkolo!
