How do you shrink clothes on purpose??

Yes, this is a dumb question.

We bought our DS some yo gabba gabba shirts from a seller on Ebay. Only problem is they are about a size and a half too big. But she was having a GREAT sale on them (they normally go for $16.95, she had them for $3.99) so we got them. My DH suggestion was just to try to shrink them. I have never done that before.

I know you are not supposed to wash some thing in Hot water because it will shrink them but it can also fade them as well and a few of them are black or brown.

So what is the best way to go about doing this without ruining the look of the shirt or would you even try???

Help the ignorant!!

Hot water and hot dryer is what I do. Yes they can fade but I don't think it will happen after one washing.

This exactly.  I don't think there is anything you can do several times to shrink something w/o fading somewhat

  • Hot water and a hot dryer. Or just wait until your LO can fit into them. ;)

  • A lot of t-shirts are preshrunk (meaning the fabric was "shrunk" before the shirt was made), so you might not be able to shrink them.  Be careful with the hot water wash trick because the colors might bleed into each other (not sure what kind of shirt you have) and that looks terrible.  Good luck!
