Who had a successful version or vbac?

My local paper says that NJ has the highest rate of c/s in the country and the hospital I delivered at has the 3rd highest rate of c/s in the country. My LO was breech the entire pregnancy and when I suggessted a version my Dr. said there was only a slight chance of it working. I then asked how about a vbac next time and he is still reluctant. He is a phenominal doctor though. The paper is making me feel bad about my c/s but he was breech and was in distress so I ended up delivering him 2 days before my scheduled c/s anyways. It still upsets me that I didn't go into labor and I am pissed at my body for what happened. :(

  • I get a little mad when I think about my c/s, too.  But, you did what was best for your lo.  You can't be mad about that.  And, don't let a newspaper article make you feel bad about that!

  • I had a successful version with DD#2.  I was very skeptical about the chances it would work, because when I asked around about it, I didn't talk to one single person for whom it had worked.  But I figured it was worth a try at least.  I had it at 38 weeks 5 days, and she was born the next day.

Try not to be too upset...you and your baby made it through everything healthy, right?  In the end that's the only thing that matters.  Congrats on your LO!

  • It's OK to have the feelings that you have.  It took me a long time to get over my disappointment over having a c/s.  DS turned breech 5 days before my edd and I had a c/s two days later.  We didn't attempt a version for multiple reasons and I'm ok with that now.  I was terribly upset about it for a long time.  It helped me to talk about it and I did come to terms with everything.

I would encourage you to do research on VBAC if that is they way you are leaning for your next child.  If breech presentation was the reason for a primary c/s, your chances for a successful are among the greatest, statistically speaking.  Also, if your OB is not supportive of VBAC, and a VBAC is important to you, please consider finding a new doctor.

Also, there is a bumpie VBAC google group.  Just go over to 12 -24 and page iris or lanie.  They can get you signed up.
