How do you keep your energy up?

What does your "menu" look like for the day?

Sometimes, it seems like I just stand in front of the refrigerator and cram food in my face.

How do you eat enough to not feel totally wiped out at the end of the day?

Re: How do you keep your energy up?

  • I like to constantly snack throughout the day instead of big meals so I don't feel gross eating so much at once.  I eat a lot of dried fruit, nuts, oatmeal, granola bars, etc.
  • I have two peanut butter and jam sandwiches on toasted whole wheat bread for breakfast every day.  Embarrassed  If I eat a normal breakfast, I get hungry and tired.  Then I start losing weight again.

I eat *normal* meals for lunch and dinner.  Also, I keep granola bars and dried fruit in my office to nibble on in case I get hungry.

  • I'm a snacker too.  In addition to what was mentioned above I like chips and salsa, cashews, fig newtons, veggies and hummus.  If I could eat dairy I'd also be having laughing cow cheese with wheat thins, string cheese, and yogurt.  I LOVE dairy as a snack.  <sigh>

For breakfast: I always have cereal, lunch: usually a sandwich with fruit and veggies or leftovers, dinner: alternate between chicken, beef, pork and seafood as the main protein.  I like menu planning and cooking, so dinner's where I try to get creative.
