Trying to Get Pregnant

New Here :)

Hello everyone! I'm Lindsey...DH & I have been married almost a year and are TTC. I just have a quick ? - basically in need of some opinions. I came off of BC at the end of March (had been on for 10 years). I had my normal period (at the end of my BC cycle) then 2 weeks later another. Now it's been just over 4 weeks since I had my last period. Is this normal for when you come off BC after being on it for so long?

 TIA!!!!

Re: New Here :)

  • First off, welcome! Yes, it is normal to have some weird cycles when coming off of BC. Lots of ladies experience that.

    Good luck!

I don't know how much you've lurked in the last couple weeks but you should know that the online ovulation calculators, the ones that take the length of your cycle and last period into consideration, are completely full of shizz.

The only way to track and confirm ovulation is by charting your temps.

The book Taking Charge of Your Fertility and the website fertilityfriend.com (click on anyones ticker) will help make sense of things.

    Yes, this exactly.

I highly recommend charting via Fertility Friend. You can click the link in my siggy (or anyone else's for that matter) to get to the website. They have some great tutorials as well.

Welcome and good luck to you!

  • Welcome!!!  It can take your body several months to regulate after stopping the BCP......mine stayed wacky until my doctor prescribed me Metformin which has worked wonderfuly for me.  I have PCOS and Metformin is often prescribed to women that have it.  Good luck!!!

that is absolutely normal.  it can take awhile to regulate after coming off BC.  i would suggest charting your BBT on fertilityfriend.com.  you can set up an account through any of our tickers.  it will really give you insight as to what goes on with your body.

     welcome and GL!

  • Welcome! You are not alone. I haven't experienced really weird cycles yet, but this is only my 2nd off. My first cycle off was 33 days, but this one is looking like it's going to be shorter. It just depends on your body! (sorry not the answer you wanted, I know)

  • Hello and Welcome to the Board.

Yes, it is very normal what you're experiencing.

  • Welcome! Give it time, it takes a while for your body to adjust after being on bc. Good luck!
