I didn't have a ton of time earlier, but just replied to my post below.
As for Benjamin. Ah...it's not that great. I had his post-surgical appointment this morning and the internal hole in his head is huge. The doctor who saw him wasn't his surgeon and was shocked about the size of it.
He also said that the packing we're using (if you're eating or are easily grossed out, stop reading now) isn't abrasive enough and we need to switch to a "wet to dry" type of packing because the wound, while not unhealthy, is developing a film inside that's not good and needs to be removed.
So not only do we now have to repack his wound twice a day but we have to do it more fiberious (is that a word?) gauze so that it grabs the film/yucky stuff and pulls it out.
If this isn't successful, we'll have to take him to the wound center to have it scraped.
And, for vanity sake, he'll always have a divet at the top of his head.
WTF? Seriously, WTFingF?
I finally broke down today. I saw my girlfriends after all of this and when they asked me how he was, I just started crying. For those of you on here who know me personally, I *rarely* cry.
The infection and the surgery was just the beginning because this is the worst stage of it.
Thanks for reading if you've read this far.

(((HUGS)))
I'm sorry you guys are going through this. I almost cannot handle when the kids have the flu, forget packing a huge hole in their head.
You are doing great! He is going to be okay and you will, too!
Oh that stinks. Hopefully the new packing will work. I worked at a wound center in college - if you get a great wound specialist (hopefully it doesn't come to that!), they can work magic!
GL and HUGS! It will get better soon!
aw damn S!!! Poor little Benjamin.
Any chance on getting a home health nurse to do the dressing changes?
And Elias Parker, Born 3.5 weeks early 12/20/2011
FINALLY!!! After 7 years of infertility!
I wish I was next to you, I would hug you and then drown you in tequila shots.
I am so sorry :-(
Liam is 5!
You are one tough mama. I would've bawled 10x over by now seeing my baby like that.
Watching him go through this has be just aweful.(((hugs)))
oh yuck! You are a much stronger person than I am...normally I'm not grossed out by much but that would gross me way too much.

sorry.
Girls will think his divet is hot...he can tell them a big outrageous lie like, 'Oh I got that when I was doing a rescue in the Grand Canyon"
