I am going to make "The Butler Family Cookbook"

I'm putting in all my recipes I use and like and I'm going to have dh's family give me recipes they use and like (all his family members that cook!)  and then I'm going to have it printed and bound into an actual cookbook type thing. 

I can't wait.  I'm starting now to give everyone a looot of time to get me their recipes

I like this! Once you have it done - you could then make it a wedding gift for all the future brides in your family, and make it so you can add to it as new people join your family.

We are doing this also! Except not really for Christmas, just as a family thing. My dad's family is huge into cooking and food is such a big deal, so now that the grandparents are gone and we aren't getting together as much (we are all spread out between NE, OK, MO, KS, and TX), we are going to put a cookbook together for all the recipes that are special to our family.

that's cool!  i've been thinking about doing that for a long time.  obviously i haven't gotten off my butt to do it.  let me know how it goes and i'll live vicariously through you.

Ooooh I loooooooooooooooooooove this idea! Would you do it for each side of the family (ex your side and his side seperate?) I would love to hear how this is organized. I might try it someday...

I've been meaning to do this for my mom for ages.  She has so many recipes passed down from great grandmothers, grandmothers, etc.
