BG 3.0s and prefolds as inserts ...

I swear I still can't get the stink out of our used microfiber inserts that came with our 3.0s ... I've tried bleach and dawn ... hasn't worked. On top of that, I was kinda embarrassed last week ... my mom flew in for mother's day and stayed the week to help me pack for our move. I tried to make things easy for her (no prefolds, snappis, KLOs and wraps, etc.) and gave her both the BG organics and BG 3.0s ... she noticed that the 3.0s were kinda funky when Zaila peed in them ... "I walked in there and the whole nursery was funky!"

 Anywho, I'm thinking of just ditching the microfiber inserts that came wiht them and using prefolds as inserts when we use the 3.0s (after I purchased them, realized that I definitely prefer our organics) ... how do you do this ... is it just one prefold that you use or two? Do you also include a hemp insert or anything ... does it work well? TIA

I often use prefolds in my BG's, just one for daytime use and one plus some hemp inserts for nighttime use.

I haven't done this in a BG, but I do it all the time in a FB cover, so it's essentially the same. I just tri fold the prefold and stuff it like you would the MF insert.  For overnight I would probably add hemp, but for daytime I do it just with the PF.

DS is wearing a BG 3.0 with an infant prefold right now as an insert.  I just trifold the prefold and stuff it just like other inserts.  Once in a while I'll fan it out in the back but usually that's not necessary.

I had a ton of stink in my BG3.0. I thought it might be ammonia build up. So I went and got a bottle of Calgon and used a half cap in my wash and no more stink. My prob was that when DD would pee it would smell awful but coming out of the wash they were fine. Now I'm swearing by the Calgon.

That's all I put in my BGs. One infant prefold during the day. Works great!
