I have used a toothpick in the small areas, like the arm rests (where the tray slides in). It is the worst to clean. I often used the vaccume too, just lift the seat cushion and clean.

Good luck
^ I've done both of these in the past, in a pinch. But to really get down in all those little grooves, I lug it into the shower, spray it down with a vinegar solution, let sit for 10 minutes, and then run the shower on HOT for about 5 minutes. This gets 90% of the grime off, and a quick swipe with a toothbrush takes care of the rest.
I've gotten the plastic parts pretty clean... its the seat padding that I'm trying to clean off. It can't go into the washing machine can it? If so... that's be super!

Ours is in the kitchen in the box still....3 weeks until LO is expected. This post makes me want to run to the store for an exchange...
I would totally go exchange it. I love it... but I hate how nasty its gotten... and since its not the vinyl covering like most other seats, its hard to clean... and babies are messy...
