Anyone else get the shakes at meal time?

I usually get to work about 815 and I eat something as soon as I get here. If I dont eat a midmorning snack around 10 or 1030, but 1130,  when our cafeteria opens, I have the shakes so bad and I feel like I am going to pass out. This has happened every day this week. Anyone else like this?

  • I wouldn't call it the shakes, but I am definitely affected if I don't have a mid-morning snack or something between breakfast and lunch. I start feeling really nauseous and sometimes a slight headache.  I know I just need to be better prepared with food.

  • I know what you mean.  If I leave the house, I get the shakes a lot during the day.  At church when singing I nearly pass out and can't wait to get to lunch right after.  I have to carry a lot of food with me but it still isn't enough because most portable things aren't really filling.  When I am at home it is so much nicer because I keep tons of fruit, yogurt, string cheese, snacks, and leftovers ready to be microwaved at any time.  I eat all day and I must eat or I get sick.
  • Not yet this pregnancy, but I got that all the time while pregnant with DS. I'd get hypoglycemic and almost pass out. I always had OJ on hand at home and tried to eat often during the day, but had sugary candy on hand for when that wasn't possible (I was on pharmacy rotations and didn't always have access to food!-I kept skittles in my white coat).
  • I totally read this as getting a shake with your meal.  Obviously I must have food on my mind.

  • I definitely experience this, some days are worse than others.  I mentioned it to my dad and he was hoping it didn't mean diabetes.  I don't think it does, but it made me worry for a minute!

  • You're letting your blood sugar get too low.  Try to eat more often and eat more protein for breakfast.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

"It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?" - A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
  • Oh my goodness.  i have had this since the day I got pregnant with this one.  Yesterday around 11am I was STARVING and all I wanted was a chicken Parmesan sandwich. I never got one. I still want it.
Yeah...my pics were so old. I got 3 kids. Nuff said. :)

    This.

Happens if there's no snacking between dinner and lunch too. If I let it get too far the nausea and headache won't go away for the rest of the day.
