Wow formula covered by insurance! That is fabulous. What insurance do you have? How did you go about getting it covered? I'm guessing your doctor had to write a prescription. Any tips would be great! TIA
Yes, my doctor wrote a prescription. Most insurance carriers will cover it for a preemie, you just have to call and ask. I have Blue Cross.
Not only that, you can have it delivered to your house. Call your insurance company and ask what their policy is. Say you have a prescription from your doc (get one written) and ask about places that will ship it to you. In my state (MA), I am allowed 10 cans delivered monthly, covered 100%, for each baby. So each month I get 20 cans delivered to my doorstep. Apria healthcare (google it) ships it to me and calls me once a month to remind me.
Since they are primarily breastmilk fed (I use the neosure for added cals and they get one formula bottle/day), I don't use most of it and as of today have 58 unopened cans of neosure in my basement. None of which I paid for.
I had my visiting nurse tell me about all of this...otherwise I would not have known.
