Anyone catch the Discovery Health show about MUCH older moms

Like 57? First time moms at age 57, 58 and even over 60. For some reason, most of the stories were from the UK, but one woman had 9 older children and then had another @ 58 or 60. Do you think that there should be an age limit put on IVF treatments? Are you ever to "old" to have children? I have no idea how I would keep up with little ones @ 50+. I can barely keep up with them @ 31!

Re: Anyone catch the Discovery Health show about MUCH older moms

  • I watched it.  I couldn't believe the 70 year old mother in India.  You wouldn't be able to watch the child grow up.  That would be terribly sad to me.
  • Men do it all the time.  I did not see the show, but in one of the UK cases I have seen, the father was much younger.  I am not really concerned about the few people who do this.  I am not even very concerned about cases like octo mom, though I think she and her Dr. were irresponsible, but those cases are very rare. I think that protocals need to be based on the health outcome for the child long term, not just pregnancy rates and other things they are currently based on.

men do it all the time but the 'control' is that the woman is by default young enough to statistically be around to be the parent.

To each their own and all but it's odd to me.
