If you use disposable wipes with CDs..

How do you organize your trash system in the nursery?  Do you just put the wipe in a trash can and the CDs in a wet bag/pail?  I don't want to have too many trash cans in the nursery, but I don't see any other options.

Please share your method with me..Thanks!

  • I keep the trash can on the right of the changing table and the diaper pail on the left.  I just got used to throwing one thing on one size and one on the other, KWIM?

This is exactly what we do as well.

  • I reuse a plastic grocery bag as the "trash can". I use it until a stinky dipe then use a new one.

  • If its a pee diaper I roll the wipe up with the diaper and throw it in the bag. I find I contain the smell more if I dont leave the diapers open in the bag. When I do a load, I unroll them and in my laundry room I have a pail that I throw the wipes in. If its a poopy diaper, when I go to dump the poop, I throw the wipe in the diaper pail I have for the disposibles we use at night. Or I put the poopy wipe in the covered trash in the bathroom.

I have been trying to use cloth wipes, and I like it better bc I can just throw everything in one place.

  • This is the reason I just deleted disposable wipes from my registry--I realized it'd just be easier to use cloth and throw it in the hamper.

At daycare they just throw them away in a garbage can next to the changing table.  At home we use cloth wipe.  They're super easy and we just wash them with our diapers.

  • I'll tell you what NOT to do.  Don't roll them up in a poopy diaper, throw them in your wet bag and forget to secure the velco to the laundry tabs when you throw them in the washing machine.  You will end up with shredded fibers embedded in the velco tabs.  Ugh.

I clearly need a new system until we finish up the wipes we have in our closet.

  • I hook a plastic grocery bag into the side of my diaper pail - inside the liner. It takes up about half the trash can so wipes go in the bag and diapers go in the liner right behind the bag. Not sure if that makes any sense or not...but the idea is, both go in the same can, just different compartments.
