Pre-Natal Vitamins

I am having a really hard time finding any that agree with me.  My OB let me try a bunch of samples, but they really do not agree with me.  I have tried taking them with food, without food, before bedtime etc.

Does anyone know of an alternate way to get all my vitamins in???  Are there any nutrition bars with daily amounts etc?? Any help would be appreciated!

CVS brand was really easy on my stomach. I'm taking Target brand now with the DHA supplement and they're not bad either as long as I take them with food. Otherwise the DHA gives me sardine burps.

Are you taking a folic acid supplement as well or do they have fa?

  • I take a gummy prenatal with DHA and folic acid from Target that's called Vitafusion. I LOVE them! Very tasty and easy to stomach.

I would love to take the gummy ones myself but they taste so good I'm afraid I'd eat them all. Dang, I think need to go get some gummy bears..l.

  • You have to be careful with the OTC ones because you should not be taking them with Fish oil in them! I know that most do have the oil in them. The Expectra doesnt(DHA pill OTC)

Hmm... my doc said fish oil was fine. I'm curious what you've heard about them, if you don't mind sharing.

  • To the OP: Have you tried taking them right before bed? That usually works best for me. Taking any kind of vitamins/medications in the morning has never worked well for me (even pre-pregnancy) my stomach is just too sensitive that time of day.

  • Prenate Elite.

I took them last time, adn had no issues.  I think they even have a little Colace in them to help w/ the constipation.  They don't have DHA, but my OB said I don't really need it yet (and may not need extra at all).  I haven't tried the gummies, but these are the only ones that don't bother my stomach.

  • I had to switch from the Target generic prenatals to the gummy prenatals from Vitafusion.

However, even though they do say they have DHA, it's a minimal amount. My OB said I need 300mg daily, and the Vitafusion ones only have about 100, so you'll need to supplement if you take those.

  • I have been taking some called Perfect Prenatal by New Chapter Organics that I buy at Whole Foods. I am even fine taking all 3 at one time on an empty stomach.
  • WOW!  Thanks everyone.  I will hit target after work and see what I can find.  The gummy ones sound like a good idea :)
  • Agree with taking them at night.
