Most of you know that DH and I have had trouble TTC #2. We are in the beginning of cycle #15....sigh. We have had all the necessary testing come back normal, even tried Clomid, one IUI and nothing. (see siggy)
Two weeks ago I went in for severe pain during ovulation and had a pretty large cyst. I have a history of cysts. My doctor suggested we do diagnostic laproscopy to check things out. He said I have many signs that point to endometriosis.
Tomorrow is the day. I am scheduled for surgery at 12pm. In a twisted way, I want him to find something in there that he can fix. I need a diagnosis at this point. He said I am borderline "unexplained infertility" GULP! That was the first mention at the IF word.
Please send up a prayer for me tomorrow.

Many many prayers said sweetie! I hope that if they do find something, that it's easily fixable. [[[HUGS]]]
I know how scary this is. I had to have a lap as well and have a family history of endo (mom had stage 4). They didn't find anything and I was really frustrated, but relieved at the same time. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow!
I have endometriosis and had to have a lap a couple years ago... I already can feel it growing back, so I'm sure I'll have to have another in the next year or so. If you have any questions/concerns about the procedure, feel free to PM me or page me on here or the IF board. We have been TTC #1 for 5 years now. I have endo, thyroid issues, and PCOS. I know IF is a hard pill to swallow, but I figure that at least if you can put a name on it you can go from there. Good luck tomorrow, hope everything goes smoothly!
Here are my unsolicited tips... Wear loose fitting clothes (yoga-like pants) tomorrow!!! You don't want anything tight on the incisions and you'll likely be bloated. If they use gas to inflate your abdomen (my RE didn't), I've heard it's useful to have heating pads to put on your shoulders since the gas will rise upward into your shoulders once you sit/stand... in this case, it's also best to try to stay flat so the gas disperses and doesn't cause much pain. Also, you obviously won't be able to lift your DD but no stooping/bending/crouching, etc for awhile until you heal. Take the pain pills if you're in a lot of pain, but if you can handle going without them do it... they will cause constipation which is much harder to use your abs for anything. I hope I'm not scaring you, it really wasn't that bad of a surgery... I had it on a Friday and went back to work on Wednesday. Just take it easy, sleep it off, and you'll be back to yourself in no time!
This is excellent advice! I also couldn't drive until they did the follow up. I was really tired the first day after my surgery, but after that, I healed really easily. Oh and my RE did use the gas, but I never got the shoulder pain at all.....weird. I did take the week off, but could have easily gone back to work a few days earlier.
Hey! Thanks for all the info. I am sorry it has been 5 years. That's a long time.
I believe he will be using gas. I had heard about the shoulder thing and will make sure to use a heating pad. After talking to a few girls who had lap, I decided to take the rest of the week off. I plan to return to work on Monday. I hope that gives me enough time.
Thanks again for the info. I am already scared so you didn't do too much more damage!

Okay, good! I just wanted to share some helpful tips. It really wasn't bad, although it will certainly range based on what they find and remove. My surgery lasted about 3 hours and I was in recovery for awhile, moved to a room and when I could pee I could leave! ;-) You'll feel some tugging/pulling sensations at the incisions (I had 3 along bikini line and 1 in belly button... completely invisible now!) but it went away in a couple weeks. Also no sex for at least 2 weeks so you don't chance infection. That's all I can think of!
I was told all my incisions would be in my belly button and there would be one maybe two. He did say if he found something that he would take care of it right then. We shall see. Hmmmmm...about waiting for 2 weeks though. I specifically asked if this would hinder TTC around O time and the nurse said no. I will be on CD5 tomorrow so 2 weeks would put me past O. I might have to double check this tomorrow. Thanks for bringing it up!
You're awesome! Thanks!

Hmm... I had mine done on CD8 and they specifically said we'd be out that cycle. I've confirmed this with several others on the IF board and they all said it was too high a risk of infection. Definitely check with your doc and see what they say, but I'd rather take a month off (especially if you are still sore!) than risk it.
Just saw what you said about my siggy... lol, glad it can make you smile! I love it myself... I feel like doing that many days! ;-) Didn't know if you lurked often but penguins are the IF board's mascot. If you've seen March of the Penguins, you know how much they go through hell and back just for one little egg. Both partners equally sharing in the journey. It seemed fitting.
I always wondered what the significance of the Penguins on IF were for....I'm on SAIF now. That is sooo sweet!
