Another question - changing tables & CD

If you use a standard changing table, not one on top of a dresser, what do you do with wipes/wet bag/etc.?

We got just a very basic changing table for our bedroom since we'll be co-sleeping (well using a co-sleeper) to start. Last time around we used a PNP w/ bassinet but I am borrowing a co-sleeper from my sister this time around so the diapering portion of our set up was lost, hence the change table. The only problem is that there's nowhere on top to keep wipes or hang a wet bag or anything. I have room underneath for bins for diapers but it seems like it would be a pain to have to reach down constantly to get wipes.

Also what do you do for cloth wipes overnight? By the time we started using cloth on Bruce he was 18 months so no overnight changes and we just got the wipes wet as we used them. That doesn't seem like it will work for nb stage at all....

Re: Another question - changing tables & CD

  • we have ds's crib in our room but cosleep for the most part...

we keep our wipes on the night stand lol.  and our wet bag hangs from the bathroom door.  we don't even have a changing table, but have this cart thing that has cubbies that are full of diapers and blankets and stuff.

as for overnights, we just started cding a month ago so we used the last of our disposables for overnights, and have just recently started cding overnight. so i'm not much help for the newborn stage... but you could just get a wipes container(or tupperware) and just keep wet cloth wipes in there.  maybe 10-15 at a time.  you'll go through those in no time so you wouldn't have to worry about them getting stinky or anything.

  • my wipes are on the shelves under the table. we have the $80-something ikea table. before i got the warmer, i would use a spray bottle which is still on the top shoved in next to the pad. now the warmer is on the middle shelf and I can reach it easily with my right hand. I can pip my setup if you like, we are really hurting for space in that room. i have exactly enough room for my trashcan diaper pail on the side, and if I have overflow into a med wetbag I snap it to the top rail on the table.
  • We have our diapers in a bin on top of a small bench and a diaper pail (just a cheap plastic garbage can) next to it.  That way they're still at an easy reaching height.  We keep our wipes and solution on our dresser (right next to this changing area) on our dresser.  We actually just keep a changing pad on our bed (it actually matches our quilt nicely) and change them there.  The original changing table is in the boys room and is used as a dresser now.

  • hmm maybe I could hang the wetbag off my closet door, the table is right next to the closet. I didn't think of that. I was thinking of getting a hook of some sort for the end of the changer - it has rounded ends so no posts and no room on top for anything but the change pad (it literally takes up every single inch of space, it is crammed in there!).

Hmmm maybe I'll have to remove one of my bins from the middle shelf and put a wipe container there....

  • This is our setup:

image We got the bins from Ikea for like $3 each... we love them so much we just bought 3 more to fit in the bottom half!

  • I have the diaps and wipes on the second shelf in bins, I am not using cloth wipes but disposable ones.  The wetbag is in a trash can next to the table!

  • I keep the wipes in the drawer of the changing table, don't use a zippered wet bag, use a pail with a liner so that it can sit right next to the changing table.
  • We have bins on the two shelves to hold the CD's, and there is a small drawer at the top that holds the cloth wipes, liners, cream, etc. But, if yours doesn't have a drawer, a bin on the shelf would work too.

We have 2 large Planet Wise wetbags. They have a handle for hanging it and the handle unsnaps so I will unsnap it and hang it off the side of the changing table. Mine doesn't have any posts either, so without the snap feature that wouldn't work. If hanging it doesn't work then I will likely just tuck it on the bottom shelf or keep it on the floor next to the changing table.
