Me too! I carried one as little as possible with DS. The only time I regularly carried one was when he was brand new and we needed lots of extra stuff in case of blowouts, and also when we dropped him off places. I also just kept extra baby stuff in the car. I saw no need to have it all with me everywhere I went.

I agree they are mostly ugly...which is why I have a hard time finding one and spending much money on them. When DC gets old enough that they don't need the extra clothes, diapers, wipes, and bottles I ditch it and use my big purse. But for those other times when I need all that crap with me I just throw my wallet in the diaper bag with my cell phone and keys.
I have only ever used one on trips...and I think I only did that b/c I had one. ( 2, but I think the petunia picklebottom bags from 2007 are hideous, so it became a knitting bag.)
I can't think of a time when I regretted not using one.
I always did, until I had 3 in diapers. I carried a skip hop duo double for awhile, but now I just carry a small purse with a diaper and a few wipes in it.
Me. I can actually (usually) fit enough for all three kids in my big purse and it doesn't look ridiculous. Ok, I admit, I have a diaper bag in the car for the stuff that doesn't fit in the purse, but a few snacks for the girls and diaper and wipes for DS are all I need. I hate carrying a big giant thing.
I was there with you. Then I hated big purses too. Now, I try to be as minimalist as possible and carry a teeny tiny army green over the shoulder bag. It's tiny but it fits all my essentials, even stuff for the kids. H calls it my commie bag.
Pre-kids I always carried a tiny purse. Like, just barely big enough to fit cell phone, a small wallet, and keys and it would not close if I added chap stick. There was no fitting a single diaper in it so I had to buy something bigger once I had kids. Now I carry a pretty small diaper bag for both kids and throw my stuff in it as well. If I had had a bag large enough to carry the bare necessities I wouldn't have bought a diaper bag at all.
I never had one with DS. I always just stuck a diaper and some wipes in my purse. If we were going to be gone all day, I would keep extra things in the car or bring a backpack if we were going to the zoo or something. I saw a cute one this weekend that I kind of want to get for this next baby but I don't really know what I would fill it up with. I will probably just stick with using my everyday bag/purse.
I like the different pockets/zippers/compartments (not to mention the changing pad) that a diaper bag has. A purse does not have all of that. I suppose a large purse would have compartments, etc. but I use those for MY things. I throw in a LOT more than diapers and wipes. I include burp clothes, extra outfit (or two), extra bib, toys, not to mention stuff for the older child (snacks). No way would I be able to fit that in a purse. If I had a purse THAT

I don't really have one. I used a leather back pack for a while and have used different bags depending on the needs of the kids. Right now, I need 2 changes of clothes, diapers, toys, snacks, ect, so I need a pretty big bag, so I use a messenger, but I mostly leave it in the car and take in a small bag with my wallet and one or two snacks, and stash diapers in my ergo.
I just carry a backpack. I have a Jansport that is perfect for carrying a bunch of stuff (including diapers). Once they're out of the diaper stage, I have a smaller backpack that is perfect.
I'm with ya on this one! I cringe when I read the 2u2 board and see moms asking about a good diaper bag for 2. Even since I had 2, I've just kept an extra diaper bag with extras of everything in my car and carried a small bag or big purse with me. The last thing I need is more crap to schlep.
I used a backpack diaper bag that I loved and still use for tracel so I can be hands free. I stopped using that bag once my younger DD was off the bottle and do the big purse thing now and love it. I ahve a cute smaller bag for when I go out alone or on date nights but I love my big purse and use it almost all the time. I agree, most diaper bags are ugly and I don't get spending so much money on them.

SORRY! First time that has ever happened to me. LOL It blinked a couple of times and then whammo...tons of posts of the same thing.
Anyway...I'd just get a diaper bag and have the convenience. Many of them do look like purses.
I have never owned a diaper bag. I hate 99% of them. I have always used large purses.
