To Belly Band or Not to Belly Band?

So I've hit 11 weeks and my dress pants are getting snug!  I'm not against purchasing maternity wear, they just don't quite fit yet.  I've heard many mixed reviews.  People either love them or hate them.  What's your vote?  Get the belly band or go spend my $20 on food cravings?  ;)

Re: To Belly Band or Not to Belly Band?

  • I think they work great on dress pants, especially if you are mostly sitting or mostly standing all day.  I like to wear mine half under my pants, and then folding the other half over the top on the outside.

  • I gave in & bought a belly band & I like it.  I'm still wearing my normal pants (maternity clothes are still big on me) & it's nice to have my pants unbuttoned with the belly band hiding my open buttons.

  • I had the BeBand and didnt use it for long.  I really did not like it.  I bought maternity pants at about 8 1/2 weeks they were a little bit but just folded the panel down and it worked well for me.
  • The belly band got me through my whole last pregnancy.  Never bought maternity clothes.  I like the way it fits/ feels folded over though i never wore it completely open.

  • I've worn mine every day now for over 2 weeks.  I don't *love* it, but it serves the purpose of keeping my regular pants up while totally unbuttoned.

  • I loved mine the 1st time around.  Just bought white and black.  They worked well with pants with hook and bar closers instead of buttons for me.  I also wore them after delivery while self conscious about my belly and nursing.

  • Just bought the BeBand this Saturday & I really like it. My size 10 pants look awesome on me with it & the band just looks like an undershirt. I know food sounds great to you right about now, but get the band instead!

  • I didn't care for the belly band, I just went straight to maternity pants, I always bought the ones with the demi waist which work well even when you don't have a big belly
  • Thanks ladies!  Looks like I'll be running to target on the way home.  ;)

I say just give in and get maternity pants. They are wonderful.

  • I loved them and used them all through out my first pregnancy and after until I lost the weight. It's a most have for me!

  • Go with the bellyband! When my work pants where feeling snug around the waist I just didnt zip my pants or button and put the band over it and just looks like a layered tanktop underneath. Saves you money on buying maternity clothing. Bellyband all the way!
  • I have a belly band thing that I bought from Gordmans.  I wear it with all of my non-maternity pants.  I did buy some maternity pants from there too which I love.  They are Motherhood Maternity's 'under the belly' kind of dress pants.  It's low rise in the front and stretchy.  They are so comfy and they don't look any different than non-maternity pants.  Other than the fact there is no zipper.

  • I don't have one, but I made one.  If you Google it, you can make your own for free with a tank top you like.  (Or someone you know that has a sewing machine.)  I haven't used mine yet, but will be needing it soon.  I don't know if I will like it, I prefer to just jump into the maternity.  You can find stuff that fits with NO bump.  (like me, just unbelievable bloating)

  • I just bought the Be Band as well, and not sure how I like it yet.  I mean it feels so much better than my pants buttoned.. and still shocking that pants are tight at 9 weeks!  But with the Be Band, I feel like when I sit, it kind of slides down or crunches a little bit.  Don't think 'crunches' is the best word, but you know what I mean.  :)  I refuse to by a larger pair of pants!  I know I am not going to be this small forever.. but I want to cherish it a couple more weeks.  :)  Good luck!
  • Loved mine with dress pants. Nobody could tell I was wearing one and it was so wonderful to unbutton my pants. I say definitely worth the money.
  • I would agree with PP's that they work really well with dress pants.  I don't feel the same about it with my jeans.  I really like my maternity pants as well though.
