Grey stains on CDs - from diaper cream?

While hanging the diapers out to dry this weekend, I noticed several had faint grey stains on them. They're mostly the diapers that go to daycare, so I'm 99% sure it's not poop stains (since DS mainly goes at home), and the stains are mostly on his AIOs (our main daycare diapers). So.... could it be diaper cream? I haven't noticed any repelling or stink issues, and DS does have some cream at daycare (Aveeno), but I've requested they not use it unless I ask (but who knows if they listen).

Any ideas if it could be something else causing the staining? I don't want to "yell" at daycare for using cream if they haven't been, but I also don't like the ideas of chemicals being on DS unnecessarily - it's been my experience that daycares will slather that stuff on unprovoked!

Any other insights/suggestions if this staining is from cream or something else? Thanks!
