If you took a class or even if you didn't and have some advice.

What is the most important thing you took away? What stuck out the most?

DH is starting to get nervous about bringing the baby home and not knowing what to do with it.

Sorry.. I thought I posted in 3rd tri. However I will take whatever anybody wants to give.

Eh, the best thing I took away from it was the walk-through of L&D and the PP wing. There was nothing in the class that I didn't know or wasn't already prepared-for. There was no infant care aspect of it at all. They have classes in PP that you can take if you're interested in stuff like that.

I did not take a birthing class. I ended up needing a C-section, but thats another story. Women have been having babies for years with out a class to tell them what or how to do it. I would save your $$ and trust your instincts and the professionals their to help you. You will do great!

I agree with the pp about an infant class being helpful. I would see if they have anything going on at the hospital right after you give birth. Don't be afraid to ask for help or send your baby to the nursery for a rest, that is what they are there for.

I went to 5 birth classes and although informative, nothing i learned helped me when baby came home.

The birth classes i took were about birth not about looking after your baby post birth.

Instincts, family, friends, and most of all your baby will guide you.

I had the same feeling bringing my baby home that your DH did, i walked baby through the house introducing rooms and then sat with him and never felt more whole, do what feels natural and learn babies cries for what they want.

It feels over whelming at first but it passes.

this period when baby comes home passes so fast DH, baby and you will be into the swing of it before you know it.

I learned a lot online. I BF so I watched a lot of videos and read www.kellymom.com . While you are at the hospita they will talk to you about different stuff. Make sure you ask questions. But don't worry mommy mode kicks in!

I didn't take a birthing class, however I did take an infant care class and was glad I did. They talked about a lot of basics, but it was very informative and thorough. It was a few hours one evening at the hospital. I would look into something like that instead of a labor and delivery class. Having a baby is what your body was built to do and your body will take over what it's supposed to do when the time comes.

 One class I didn't take though, that I wish I had was a breastfeeding class. I had such a time getting my son to latch and eventually had to switch to FF. I had really hoped to breastfeed him for at least the first 6 months.
