Momoftrips, fakers and emotions

Okay I just caught up on everything, asked some very good friends of mine to do some investigating, other triplet moms that are great at spotting fakers, even a multiples fakers finder group, a place to notify others of fakers etc.

I did some homework of my own, googled momoftrips, googled triplet pictures, etc. I spent a good bit of time trying to find her pictures on different sites, they do not exist anywhere but on her sites. Her blog is equal to that of her post on here.

I was called a faker many times, questioned, I was the first triplet mom on the boards and received a lot of bs because of it. JM rolled over when he was three months old, it was a fluke but he did it. After talking to the ped about it I realized I should not be challenging him to roll over, yes I was encouraging him to do so and putting toys just outside of his reach so he would have to stretch to get them. I stopped doing so.

From the pictures do I think her triplets are sitting up, well no not really, do I think she should be allowing her child to  stand while someone is holding her hands, well no. It is a sign of muscle tone problems and maybe something she should check out. However, it does not give me a right to judge her, give her solid advice, help her out etc.

Yes we have had fakers on here, yes other sites have had some horrible experiences with fakers, but there are other ways to investigate this before hurting someones feelings.

We all have emotions running wild, especially those who recently gave birth, within the past year. Hormones are out of wack, and we are sensitive about fakers right now due to recent events. Please just check the facts and consider someones feelings before calling them out.

From what I can see, from what I found today there is no evidence she is a faker, do all of her stories make sense to me, but then again well some of my life experiences are out there as well. Take a deep breath everyone and put yourself in her shoes, especially if you were not a faker.

oh and I recently had a faker on my facebook account, she friended me on the basis of being a soon to be triplet mom. Her first ultrasound showed twins, at 20 weeks it showed triplets, at 24 weeks she was flying from New York to Britain for a vacation, still working as a homicide investigator  and researching strollers. I decided to google her, got nothing, the I googled triplet ultrasounds, the ultrasound she was using as hers was used in a text book. I called her out on facebook and she deleted her facebook account within the hour. Fakers for the most part are outed prior to giving birth.

Re: Momoftrips, fakers and emotions

  • Haven't been on a whole heck of a lot lately, but WHAT?  I have no idea what's going on.
  • Neither had I, she was called a faker yesterday or Friday not sure when due to her random post. So she did a gbcn

my hormones are almost back to normal... i hope!

prior to posting the pics showing her kids "sitting", wouldn't you agree there were some red flags?  not even talking about the questions momoftrips had about feeding/milestones... i didn't pay much attention to those - just the money raising aspect without an established non-profit status is a little suspect.

it is sad that someone would have to post pics to prove she is a trip mom.  but in this sort of situation, i felt like it was a great way for her to disprove those allegations quickly.  and she did!!  really the request was to show the babies sitting.  but i'm sure many wanted to see the pics to see if she was a MoM at all, rather than the sitting thing.   why people didn't come out in droves after that, i don't know...

when i was going through ivf i posted on ivillage boards... a totally mellow,  and supportive (if slow) experience over there.  the bump is just snippier... but lots more people to chime in...AND some very nice, funny, supportive ladies over here!

  • I agree that there is a ton of snippy and drama here. I understand the disbelieve three months old sitting up, feeding them cereal. We did not do any of that till six months at least. But We were much more premature. And then there was the making it as far in pregnancy as she did, but then I think back and my doctors thought I would make it that long. (Damn Kidney infection changed things)

She has been lucky, all I am asking is that everyone take a deep breath

as far as hormones my kids were over a year before things slowed down long enough for the ppd to set in, and trust me when it did, it set in hard and fast. It is common with MoM's for PPD to be delayed.

  • I didn't think she was a fake either.  I checked out her blogs and they had a ton of detailed information (like paragraphs explaining what the trips did that day) and didn't seem fake.  I hope we're right.

My girls were rolling over at 9.5 and 10.5 weeks... earlier than their big singleton brothers who both rolled at 12 weeks. (They could lift their chests pretty high early so it helped them to just topple over.) They've also been holding themselves very steady while sitting assisted for some time now.  Some babies just get the gross motor skills early. Our little twin girls rolled over earlier than any of the babies on either side of our families!! (And with MomofTrips kids - the really chunky babies I've known DO sit earlier because they have the pudge to balance themselves easier) ; )

As far as the donation link, it was fishy and handled in the wrong manner, but that doesn't mean she doesn't actually have triplets.

Yup. If it hadn't been for that, all the rest of the "unusual" stuff would've gotten a much milder reaction. But that PLUS everything else ...
