Eco-Friendly Family

what a discouraging day...

It should have been a happy one, with Dh's bff graduating from architecture school and a big cookout for him this afternoon, but last night Noah woke up at 4am with a fever and a "croupey" cough. When DH took him to the dr today (I was at a quilting class), they had to give him a breathing treatment on a nebulizer (during which he basically freaked out the entire time as he does NOT like anything touching his face) and 2 rx's- one for the cough/wheezing and one of antibiotics for an ear infection that he has.

1. I feel bad for my baby feeling so pitiful.
2. I feel like a sh*tty mom for not knowing that he had an ear infection OR that the cough was that bad. It had been going on since Wednesday, but I just thought it was allergies until the fever.

We also just learned that it's basically going to take an act of God to save my friend Chelsey's life (op). I'm not sure what's happened today/tonight, but the caringbridge site says "To put it very simply, we need everyone to pray for a true miracle to save Chelsey's life. My family does not want me to go into details at this time, but we are meeting with the head neurosurgeon tomorrow. Chelsey needs a miracle, nothing else will help her at this point."

I can't sleep, my brain is going 100mph and when I tried to go into my sewing room to work on my quilt, the dang blanket stitch kept skipping stitches (which I figure is a sign to go to bed). *sigh*

What a craptastic day.

I missed ear infections in my kids before - they just didn't have any symptoms.  It's okay!

    Still praying for Chelsey.

  • You are right...you have had a crappy week for sure.  I am so sorry and I wish there was something I could do.  One thing I can tell you is that you are NOT a bad mommy for not knowing he was sick!  Ear infections are tricky and the symptoms can be hard to spot...especially if they don't present in typical fashion.

And I am truly sorry for your friend.  I have been praying for all of you guys.  I hope you guys get some answers and can find some peace soon.

Hugs...and know that you are still in our thoughts and prayers.

  • I'm so sorry, hon.  You ARE a good mom.  You don't have x-ray vision.  There's no way any of us can predict where or when an infection will set in.

As for Chelsey, you know I'm praying.  I was so sad to see the update tonight.

    ((huge hugs))

  • Don't be so hard on yourself.  Even us pros have things happen with our kids under our watch.  You're a great mom who noticed her baby wasn't feeling well & got him help.

God has a plan for your friend.  Just remember everything good that she's done in her life has earned her a place with her Heavenly Father, should he so choose to bring her home.  And should she recover, than her continued life will reflect the glory that is His.
