My Job is trying to fire me.

The HR dept wrote a letter of warning to me with a bunch of lies on it. Then tells my boss ohh we are going to get rid of her job and get someone part time. My boss and her boss told them that was unnessary but its like my word against HR so now 3 months prego and showing I got to get my resume together.

Re: My Job is trying to fire me.

  • It's a pretty gutsy move to fire someone whose pregnant without high probable cause.  Maybe you should contact a  lawyer. Best of luck to you either way.

I would think that they would need to offer you the part time position before firing you for no valid reason. I imagine that your manager and HR know about your pregnancy. That could be a huge issue for them if they end up firing you.

Pretty much I've begun documenting the harrasment sine its been going on a long time. Still got to try and get a job if they do let me go unfortunetly with 3 kids we need two incomes.
  • Dude, get a lawyer. That is bullsh!t.
  • Did this all start happening after you got KU? That sounds like a major HR no-no and they are putting the company at risk of a lawsuit. You could claim that you were fired because you got pregnant.
  • They can't fire you bc ure pregnant, bc it violates the pregnancy discrimination act.  So, they're prolly making up lies to get rid of you and cover their ass.  If you have the documented harrassment, that could make a case.
  • Ohhhh, I know exactly what you are going through. This happened to me last month. I started a new job in March and a month later my supervisor made up a bunch of lies about me and implied that I was going to be fired. I ended up ending my employment with the company the next day (we are in a dispute because I said they fired me, they said I quit). Document EVERYTHING. Who you talked to, etc. and send it to HR. When I found out what my supervisor was doing I wrote a 4 page letter documenting my understanding of the situation and rebutting everything my supervisor claimed I did. Good luck with everything. Everything will work out in the end, I'm just sorry you are going through this.
  • I am so sorry this is happening to you, but I am so psyched for you to get a lawyer. Nail those f&ckers!!

In all likelihood, you were still under a 90 day probationary period.  If that was the case, they don't need a reason to fire you.  They just can.

    OP-

You might be documenting things, but they are too.  If they have documentation, real or not, it will also strengthen their case.  I'm not saying that YOU are, but I hate it when people jump straight to, "Sue them.  They are discriminating."  Maybe they are being malicious, but I have a very hard time believing that you are the model employee who is being targeted because you are pregnant.

No I'm the model employee that has been harrassed since the first week I got there and because I always have my boss covering for me they are trying to force me out now that i'm pregnant. My boss and her boss specifically told them my job performance is fantastic and that they need me not that they need someone in my position but me. They are throwing in these extra sh** to make their case better for getting rid of me specifically. I am documenting stuff to cover myself but if they do fire me I will sue them because they have harrassed me since week one and all the stuff they are saying others in the office do and worse but they are too busy watch me to notice. My boss even told that to HR and HR now is going to put out a letter to others in the company. But to me is too little too late.

Thanks to everyone's supportive responses. I had to take a break yesterday went out and cleared my head then got some sleep. I was really stressed out and as I don't wan to lose my baby I figured it would be best to rest.
